Success Story: Mariposa Marketing

Mariposa Marketing is a full-service marketing agency proudly rooted in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Founded in 2017, the agency offers everything from social media management and photography/videography to traditional and digital media buying, content creation, and campaign strategy—bringing the full power of a marketing department to local businesses.

As a native New Mexican and proud Hispanic woman, founder Laurene Rodriguez launched Mariposa Marketing with a bold vision: to create something impactful right here at home. “Our mission has always been to become the most impactful homegrown organization New Mexico has ever seen,” she shares.

Since its inception, Mariposa Marketing has grown steadily—and programs like the New Mexico MBDA and the City’s Small Business Office have played a pivotal role in that journey. “The NMMBDA has opened doors to new opportunities, new contacts, new learning experiences, and valuable resources,” says Rodriguez. “Their support has been a catalyst for our growth, and it’s encouraging to see programs that truly support New Mexico’s vibrant small business ecosystem.”

Looking ahead, Rodriguez plans to expand Mariposa Marketing’s work with businesses across the state while launching a new digital education platform to empower the next generation of marketers and entrepreneurs. Continued support from initiatives like the NMMBDA will be key to unlocking new opportunities and deepening their impact. “We need programs like these to help us navigate our growth and connect with more communities,” Rodriguez says.

Above all, Mariposa Marketing remains deeply committed to New Mexico. “We feel so blessed to be from this state. We’ve made a conscious decision to stay—not to complain about the challenges, but to dig in and be part of the solution. We believe in this place, and we’re committed to helping build a stronger future for everyone who calls it home.”

Rodriguez also serves on the City of Albuquerque’s Small Business Regulatory Advisory Committee, where she helps advocate for policies that support local entrepreneurs.
