Strengthening Ties with Mexico

The City of Albuquerque joined state and international leaders in celebrating the opening of New Mexico’s new Economic Development and Tourism Office at the World Trade Center in Mexico City, a milestone that deepens trade, tourism, and cultural connections between New Mexico and Mexico.

Deputy Cabinet Secretary Isaac Romero of the New Mexico Economic Development Department and Acting Tourism Secretary Lancing Adams led the October 7 celebration, which included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and live video conference connecting partners across New Mexico and Mexico.

Representing the City of Albuquerque, Sr Economic Developer Daniel Schmuck attended the event as part of the state’s delegation, underscoring Albuquerque’s commitment to strengthening cross-border collaboration and economic growth.

“Mexico is one of Albuquerque’s most important trade and tourism partners,” said Schmuck. “This new office opens the door for more opportunities to promote Albuquerque as a destination for investment, innovation, and cultural exchange.”

The Mexico City office will focus on trade, tourism, and academic collaboration, creating new pathways for businesses, universities, and cultural institutions on both sides of the border. For Albuquerque, the initiative supports ongoing efforts to expand international trade, attract foreign investment, and showcase the city’s growing industries, from aerospace and film to sustainable technology and advanced manufacturing.

The City of Albuquerque is proud to support the state’s work in strengthening global partnerships that bring long-term opportunity and shared success to our region.
