Firecracker Leadership Ignites Growth for Albuquerque Businesses

Firecracker Leadership has spent more than a decade helping Albuquerque’s business community grow stronger, smarter, and more scalable. Founded by CEO and Executive Coach Janice Honeycutt Hering, the firm provides leadership development and coaching designed to help business owners, executives, and teams thrive. Janice started Firecracker Leadership in 2013 after noticing a gap: while larger businesses had access to leadership coaching, smaller businesses often did not. She stepped in to fill that need, creating programs that help leaders grow and scale their companies while making their work more rewarding. Over the past 12 years, her approach has fueled extraordinary results. One client who joined in 2020 at $750,000 in annual revenue has grown to $5 million and expanded to three locations. Another scaled from $15 million to $90 million thanks to the encouragement and accountability of Firecracker’s peer groups.

That kind of growth comes from more than business strategy, it comes from empowering leaders. “Our mission is to make businesses fun to run, so they can become scalable and saleable,” Janice explains.

Connections with the City of Albuquerque’s Small Business Office (SBO) have been part of the journey. Introduced through a fellow business owner, Janice found the Small Business Resource Fairs particularly valuable. “They provide great access to resources,” she says, “and open the door to opportunities for collaboration and support.”

Firecracker Leadership has celebrated milestones of its own: purchasing an office space to expand its programs, adding two professional coaches to meet growing demand, and broadening its services to include not only business owners and executives, but also teams, supervisors, and newly identified managers.

Looking ahead, Janice’s goal is to continue building leaders who inspire their organizations and drive long-term success. With ongoing support from the Small Business Office, especially through events that connect entrepreneurs to resources and to each other like the Small Business Resource Fair, Firecracker Leadership is poised to keep making a powerful impact.
