Albuquerque’s Small Business Resource Fair Empowers Entrepreneurs and Streamlines Licensing

More than 100 entrepreneurs, start-ups, and local business owners attended the City of Albuquerque’s Small Business Resource Fair on November 18, creating a packed and energetic environment focused on connection, support, and growth. Hosted by the City’s Small Business Office and Job Training Albuquerque, the event brought together nearly 20 vendors and partner organizations offering hands-on assistance, funding resources, marketing expertise, training opportunities, and technical support.

One of the evening’s biggest successes was the Business License Clinic, led by the City’s Planning Department. The clinic provided personalized, step-by-step support for attendees applying for a new business license or renewing an existing one. With City staff, computers, and scanners on-site, dozens of entrepreneurs were able to complete their full registration process during the event.

Many participants said the in-person guidance helped clear up confusion and save time. Being able to ask questions in real time, troubleshoot documents, and receive individualized support helped remove common barriers that delay getting a business up and running.

“The Business License Clinic was a game changer for me. I had been overwhelmed trying to figure out the paperwork on my own, but the staff walked me through every step,” said Desert Moon Designs 505 owner Paula Butterworth. “I left fully registered and glad to be connected to the Small Business Office.”

Representatives from Job Training Albuquerque also met with business owners seeking to enroll their employees in no-cost, industry-specific training programs. Additionally, attendees connected with lenders, marketing agencies, nonprofit partners, and other service providers who offered resources to help them build, stabilize, and expand their operations.

The strong turnout and high engagement underscored the City’s commitment to supporting Albuquerque’s small business community and demonstrated how valuable these in-person opportunities are for entrepreneurs.
