Albuquerque Film Office Connects Local Students to Hollywood Magic
The Albuquerque Film Office continues to create opportunities for the next generation of filmmakers, most recently by connecting students from the New Mexico Academy for the Media Arts—a school serving grades 6-12—with an active film set right in their neighborhood.
When an A24 independent film began shooting in Albuquerque—just across the street from the school—the Film Office helped coordinate an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience. Over two days, 12 students had the rare opportunity to step onto the set, observe the production process, and witness firsthand the collaboration that brings a film to life.
The visit took an inspiring turn when the students ran into a familiar face—an alum of their own school, now working as the film’s assistant location manager. Seeing a former classmate thriving in the industry made the dream of a career in film feel more tangible than ever.
“You could see the spark in their eyes,” faculty member Anthony Conforti shared. “They weren’t just watching filmmaking happen—they were envisioning their own futures in it.”
By bridging the gap between education and industry, the Albuquerque Film Office continues to support local talent, ensuring that the city’s booming film scene remains a place where creativity and opportunity intersect.
